Serbian Groundhop 3 ( my second) was yet a fanstastic mix of stadiums and games, all witnessed with a great bunch of friends/hoppers/football supporters. Great organisation, superb Serbian guides and on top of the football plenty of food, a few beers and a some Serbian culture.
My next few posts give a quick recap on each game, but there will be others who cover the trip in more detail with far better photography - check out the website of Peter Miles and the Chicken Balti chronicles facebook page, for more about the trip and far better photographs!
We left Belgrade in the morning and headed north to Novi Sad, finding time to stop and visit a Serbian Orthodox Monastery, we then arrived in Beocin to see the team that had started as the works team for the local cement factory. Their club badge includes an elephant - (as strong as cement) and they turned in a good display to take all 3 points.
Free admission to a basic ground but one that had plenty to offer the ground hopping connoisseur. A side stand (made of concrete) but raised above it a small roofed VIP stand. Plus a scoreboard 9 that was never used, a very photographic entry gate and if you went over the dug out side of the pitch, you could get a picture of the ground with the cement factory as background.
The football was competitive and both teams showed some technical skill but as with all 5 games this weekend, players are not helped by the poor condition of the pitches.
