Famous guests

Sunday 19 November 2017, FK Index 0 Sloga Erdevik - Vojvodanska Loga 'Jug', Stadium Dacko Igraliste

An early Sunday morning on the banks of the River Danube, cold but sunny, the river paths busy with joggers, cyclists and families out on a Sunday stroll, many of them popping into the cafe at FK Index for a warming coffee or hot chocolate, but not for us we are here for the football.

Small ground, a few steps of terrace and a raised platform for viewing with VIP benches that has seen better days. The pitch is also not in great condition but what we did have was decent crowd of local fans who have turned up for their Sunday morning entertainment.

They were not entertained! It was a very poor game, surprising as the visitors are top of the league, but the only entertaining part of the first 85 minutes was the goalkeepers shirt of the visitors, more like a GB Olympic shirt than an East European goalkeepers.

But with a few minutes remaining the leaders get a goal that certainly looked out of place in this game!

It was at half time that we got a nice surprise, we often get  atlk from a club official about the history of their club but this time we met two kep figures in Yugoslav and now Serbian football -a former Red Star and Vojvodina coach - Milorad Kosanovic and the ref who who officiated in the Estonia - Scotland, 3 minute match - Miroslav Radoman.

A nice way to spend a Sunday morning and then it was on the bus heading north towards the Hungarian border.
