See you in Montevideo ( or in fact Paraćin - Serbia)

 

On the Serbian groundhop Seven we visited the  'Green Hell' in Paraćin , home of Serbian 4th division team - FK Jedinstvo Paraćin, (Gradski stadium) we were told it had been used in a Serb film about the 1930 World Cup and that is the reason the stands were painted the blue from the Uruguayan flag.

 

The Serbs made a film about qualifying for 1930 World Cup in 2010,  - that was filmed mainly in Tenerife , the film was well acclaimed - " Montevideo, God Bless You!"

 

In 2014 a sequel was made, a comedy this time - "See you in Montevideo"  and some of the match scenes were filmed in Paraćin.

 

 

Serbian Groundhop 7 - Day 2 - We all need good neighbours.

Saturday 2 November Drive south to Gornji Milanovac and two games.

We arrived in time for a stadium tour of the FK Metalac ground, then watched a regional third division game at their ( very close) neighbours - FK Takovo. We were treated brilliantly at both clubs, from free drinks, VIP seats and then presented with a match worn shirt from last season.

Two clubs that are just separated by the wall of the stand.

Short drive north from Belgrade and a Prva game with an unusual Friday afternoon kick off time, not that we were complaining - a ground very neat and very blue! With a set of floodlights that reminded us all of 70s English football grounds.
