Dour game, but great crowd and a Grade II listed building!

Saturday 10 October 2015, Enfield Town 0 Hitchin Town 0, FA Cup Third Qualifying Round - Queen Elizabeth Stadium

A dour game but a fantastic crowd for this FA Cup game, showing what a success #Nonleagueday has come, 880 plus here at this athletics come football ground.

Not a fan of football games at athletics grounds, but at some places it does work, a good example is Hornchurch but here in Enfield it works better than most. The key is the two stands behind the goals being on the inside of the track.

But the star of the show is the main stand/changing room and bar building, no surprise to find out that it is Grade II listed. Built in 1953, this art deco stand is fantastic and reminds me of the 1930's Broomhill Lido in Ipswich.

So if you get a chance, visit and just hope you get a better match than me - the football was not bad but very few chances and then some needless niggle tackles and dissent made the game even harder to watch. Hope the replay is a better spectacle.
