Hamburg Football Stadium Journey Day 3

At late night at St Pauli but no time to waste in the morning as one more Hamburg ground to get before the short S Bahn trip to Bergedorf and 2 great stadiums

DAY 3

Ground 19

Sportplatz Beim-Gesundbrunnen - TuS Hamburg 1880

Nice little sports club

Ground 20

Billtal Stadium – TSG Bergedorf 1860

This is a great setting for a ground, a natural bowl in a forest, now an astro pitch but once was the largest clay surface pitch in Germany, with crowds of 30,000 plus – now the club of Russian ex pats may be lucky to draw 50 – is there anywhere in the world where such a small club plays in such a great stadium?

Ground 21

Langnese Happiness Stadium, Sander Tannen – FC Bergedorf 85

Crap name for a ground but another great stadium and a great way to finish off 50 hours of groundhopping- where next? Brussels or Berlin?

Hamburg Football Stadium Journey Day 2

Hamburg Stadium Journey

The journey continues with 9 grounds on the itinerary today including a game at St Pauli and a stadium tour at HSV Hamburg but in then it would be 12 grounds fitted into one day – thanks to the great Hamburg public transport system.

DAY 2

Ground 7

Sportplatz Beethoven Strasse – Ground shared between Croatia Hamburg and SV Uhlenhorst-Adler

Astro the way ahead?

Ground 8

Marienthal – here

Ground 9

Stadium Hoheluft – SC Victoria Hamburg

Now at the one of the ‘big’ Hamburg non-league teams – great ground

Stadium 10

Duwo Arena – Ground shared between SC Sperber 1898 and TSV DUWO 08

And you can watch the game from the railway platform!

Stadium 11

Rudi-Barth Sportanlage – SC Union 03 Altona

Only a small club but a great ground, which until recently was also the home to the St Pauli Reserve team, the complex also includes an athletics track and 2 further pitches.

Stadium 12

Wolfgang Mayer Stadium – HSV Hamburg II

Sports complex also includes a number of other pitches plus an ice hockey arena!

Stadium 13

Stellingen Stadium – Ground shared between TSV Stellingen 88 and SV West-Eimsbuttel
Main pitch looks like it has seen better days

Stadium 14

Imtech Stadium – HSV Hamburg

One of the top stadiums in Europe

Stadium 15

HSV Hamburg Training Ground – HSV Hamburg

Next to the Imtech, and being expanded

Stadium 16

Adolf Jager Stadium – Altona 93

A club becoming popular with British fans, helped by its proximity to St Pauli

Stadium 17

Kreuzkirche – FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen

Great inner-city location

Stadium 18 Millerntor – St Pauli – here

Just one day to go !!
