Saturday 26 December 2017 - Ipswich Wanderers 1 Felixstowe & Walton United 0 - Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Humber Doucy Lane
Ipswich Town 0 QPR 0 - Championship, Portman Road
Boxing Day and an Ipswich double: Starting with an Eastern Counties game in East Ipswich, Wanderers were second from bottom and Felixstowe top but the first half was very close and Wanderers were making up for a lack of skill in producing a great work rate.
The second half saw Felixstowe get on top and dominate the game but Wanderers were still dangerous on the break and from one of their rare attacks they took the lead. Felixstowe could have had a late penalty but in the end, their own poor finishing cost them victory.
If Wanderers manage to put the same side out every week and keep playing like today they could yet save themselves from relegation. If Felixstowe continue to play like toady they will soon see themselves leapfrogged in the table but possibly two teams.
Second game was at Portman Road, Ipswich had the best chances in the first half but the second half saw both teams fail to really test either keeper. QPR did lose a player to a second yellow card but their was little time for Ipswich to make any benefit from having an extra man, so it ended up all square.
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

For once I could see the pitch!
Saturday 17 August 2013, QPR 1 Ipswich Town 0, Championship - Loftus Road
Made at change at QPR, as I could see the whole pitch - times have changed at Rangers, always enjoyed my trips to West London, but a year in the Premiership has changed the feel - pubs not allowed to let away fans in and certain QPR fans now thinking they have to behave like Chelsea or West Ham fans

Another double game week and still passing well!

Tuesday 22nd February 2011 - QPR 2 Ipswich Town 0, Championship - Loftus Road
Wednesday 23rd February 2-11 - Ipswich Town reserves 4 Southend United Reserves 0, Playford Rd training ground, Combination
We lost at rangers, against a team that was top - but a neutral would have thought at half time that we were the table topping team. But for all our good play and the strings of passes we put together, we are lacking a goal threat up front, a similar story to the home game against Hull.

The Reserve game did see goals and again more passing and the best bit? Both the First team and the reserves are playing with a smile on their faces.

Back to earth?
Tuesday 14th September 2010, Ipswich Town 0 QPR 3 - Championship, Portman Road
Well it had been a great start to the season but tonight we were dropped back to earth with a big bump- but at least Connor was back!

Tuesday 9th February Loftus Road

County Clare not QPR
Tuesday 9th February 2010, QPR 1 - Ipswich Town 2 - Loftus Road
There are many reasons why we like certain grounds more than others, and often it is more to do with results of your team rather than stadium facilities. I love Loftus Road - reasons? Results- we often seem to get a good away win in West London, my first ever Ipswich away match without my father was at Loftus Road in Easter 1974. Now facilities wise - crap, overcharged £30 and the view from the upper or lower tieir is crap- but I still love going there.
it also has to do with the cosmopolitan feel of Shepherd's Bush, and I love having a few beers by the Green. you can't beat one of the numerous Irish Pubs, where you will find pictures of the current QPR team next to pictures of the maverick Stan Bowles and next to them a picture of a County Clare GAA winning team.
So crap view from the away end, £30 , but you will still see me looking forward to my trips to Shepherd's Bush.
