Virus free and crowd free!

Saturday 14 March 2020, Bridon Ropes 4 Lydd Town 2 - Southern Counties East , Division One, Meridian Sports and Social Club

Visited this venue a few years ago but plenty has changed since with the main pitch now fenced off, however the clubhouse still  looks like a disused 1960's nightclub!

Bridon were lucky to go in at half time on equal terms but they had much better  second half and ran out easy winners. Lydd player got sin binned for b dissent, same player who i had seen earlier in the season given his marching orders for dissent - a slow learner!

Not many leagues playing because of the virus, but no obvious boost to the crowd here, with it reaching a peak of 40 just after the break.

Saturday 7 March 2020

Two games, two defeats

Saturday 7 March 2020, Henley Athletic FC 2 Ipswich Town Under 18s 1 - Henley Community Centre, Suffolk Senior Cup, Quarter Final - then >

Ipswich Town 0 Coventry City 1 - Portman Road, Championship

Not the best of days for Ipswich Town, the Under 18s going out of the Senior Cup and then the 1st Team losing again - any hope of a Play Off place now seems to have gone, we just need a win - any sort of win.

The Youth team may have lost but we were all made very welcome by Henley and I for one home they make it to Portman Road for the final.

Wednesday 4 March 2020

No hope

Tuesday 3 March 2020, Ipswich Town 0 Fleetwood 1 - Portman Road, League One

Can it get any worse? Probably! Play-off dream over

Sunday 1 March 2020

No problem with rain here

Saturday 29 February 2020, AFC Sudbury 3 Heybridge Swifts 1 -Isthmian League, North,
King's Marsh

As had to stay local today as had an evening event but the two Step 7 games on my radar quickly bit the dust, so G3 card played for a revisit to Sudbury - as they playing second placed Heybridge, thought I would get a good game and goals.

Good news for the paper chasers, arrived and surprised to get a free programme as Sudbury had moved to on-line programmes a while ago, and was informed they were doing free programmes to get supporters interested as they were going back to printed programmes next season.

Football wise, a close game with a very young Sudbury side playing well against one of the top teams, second half saw Heybridge take the lead through their top scorer Teniola. However Sudbury stayed in the game and then got two penalties, both for handball, the first offender being Teniola. Obvious to all that the ball had struck hand for both penalties, you could argue that neither were deliberate.

A good result for a very young Sudbury team.

Ground wise, all you would want at this level - and higher! Good club house, large car par, covered seats and terracing - only downside, not enough staff working on the catering which saw big queues.
