Ipswich started well and went ahead after 8 minutes but on 30 minutes a keeper error saw Fulham get back on level terms and after that it was the London club who dominated the game adding further goals in the 42, 53, 69 and 84 minutes, Ipswich did pull back one goal on the 80th minute. Poor discipline from both sides saw too many free kicks plus a 21 player punch up, interesting that the U16 game between the same clubs on the pitch next door also saw a 22 player punch up!

Both teams have started the season well and just a few places apart in the Easter Counties League , Premier Division, so expected a close game and that is what we got.

It took Wanderers 43 minutes to take the lead and they never felt safe with just one goal lead and it was not till the last minute of the game did they get the second to ensure they are in the hat for the next round.

Start with a loss

 Friday 14 August 2026, Ipswich Town Under 21s 2 Coventry City Under 21s 4 - Premier League 2 Cup, Colchester United.

Think this season will be a struggle for Ipswich, last season, first at this level, we did very well but this year seem to have entered every cup, so will be busy time for a young team, will be interested if our new manager plays 1st team squad players, last manager was never keen to do so.

Coventry scored after 34 minutes only for Ipswich to get back on terms a minute later - goal scored by a player who played in the World Cup, only a few weeks ago - Ali Hamedi. We then had a 13 minute delay due to an injury to the Ipswich keeper.

Second half saw 2 penalties to Coventry, so they went ahead, Ipswich got one back on 84 minutes only for City to add a 4th goal in the last minute.
