Parklife

Saturday 7 October 2017, St Albans City 2 Bath City 0 - National League, South, Clarence Park

Soon as I arrived at the park, I loved it - not just the football ground - you also had hockey, bowls and a cracking stand at the cricket - very similar to the stand at Great Yarmouth.

Once inside the football ground, you are met with supporters selling real ale and beyond them stretches out a great old grandstand - and opposite a standing terrace with a great cantilever roof.

The whole ground is a non-league gem - and a 'must' visit for any serious groundhopper. On the pitch, St Albans have had a great start to the season and if they keep it up they will be in the promotion shake up at the end of the season.

Another plus point were the number of quality flags on display, some very original and would put many a Premier League club to shame. Only minus points were the lack of quality food on sale and the small clubhouse - but even those minus points can't stop this ground from being listed up there with the top non-league grounds in the country.
