Tuesday 24 March 2015, Waltham Abbey FC 1 Great Wakering Rovers 3, Ryman League, North Division - Capershotts
Expected more from Waltham Abbey after their fighting display at Needham last weekend but it turned out to be an easy away win for the Rovers - and to cap it all off, the Abbey missed a last minute openalty!
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

Just like Saturday
Monday 16 March 2015, Ipswich Town Reserves/U21 0 Nottingham Forest Reserves 3 - Playford Rd Training Ground
Bit like Saturday, plenty of the ball but end up on the wrong side of a heavy defeat.

Who needs 11 players?
Tuesday 11 March 2015, AFC Horchurch 2 Canvey Island 0, Ryman Premier League - Horchurch Stadium
Hornchurch started brightly in what was an open game with chances at both ends and eventually the 'Urchins' took the lead but within minutes were down to 10 men as their keeper got a deserved red card.
But even down to 10 Canvey struggled to get on top and the East London club continued to have chance, Canvey attempted to make the extra man count and eventually got a penalty - now Horchurch had no keeper on the bench so the stand in keeper had been an outfield player. No problem as the Canvey player could only hit the post!
Last minute and Hornchurch break, and this time a Canvey player gets the red card, and Hornchurch do not miss from the spot- so 2-0 in what was a very entertaining game.
The ground may be a pitch within an athletics track, but it is one of the better joint athletics/football stadia but the pitch could do with some work on it.

Not great finishing!
Saturday 7 March 2015, Ipswich Town 1 Brentford 1, Championship - Portman Road
This was the game where all the ex players come back to Portman Road, not sure they would have been too impressed with the finishing!

Motormen get into first gear
Tuesday 3 March 2015, Redbridge 2 Romford 1 - Oakside Stadium, Ryman League (North)
My second trip to Redbridge and this time the game was on! Another metropolitan derby, and there are plenty in this part of East London/Essex. Mergers, amalgamations, ground sharing, lost grounds - every club seems to have a link with another club and all seem to have some sort of connection to the Ford Motor Company!
Redbridge still hold the nickname the Motormen whilst Romford have played at a number grounds owned by Ford's.
This was a relegation battle but both teams looked to pass the ball - great goalkeeping by both keepers kept the score low, but it was an enjoyable and dry night in East London.
