Might be a basic ground - but dry and out of the wind!

Saturday 18 January 2014 - Gorleston 1 Haverhill Rovers 0, Thurlow Nunn Premier Division - Emerald Park

Some may say that Emerald Park is basic, 3 of the stands almost identical and few portakabins on the other side – but what do you want at a non-league ground? For me it is to be dry and out of the wind and keeping your shoes clean is a bonus- so Gorleston ticks all those boxes. Plus you do not need to look far to see some quirky bits that all non-league followers seem to like.

On one side you have the greatest Directors Box you could ask for.

And then on the other side, you have the subs sat within the Sailor Brown stand – another nice touch.

The game itself, not great thanks to a muddy pitch, but as so many clubs have been even able to put a match on over the last few weeks because of rain you can only play tribute to those behind the scenes who have made it even possible to just play a game at Emerald Park.
