Wednesday 12 August 2015, FC Romania v Takeley FC, Essex Senior League - Theobalds Lane (Cheshunt FC)
You just have to love the Essex Senior League, small village teams with decent crowds, large East London sports grounds with no crowds, run down grounds in Essex/London overspill places like Basildon, clubs not even in Essex and then on top of that we have FC Romania.
Team made up of Romanians working here- very skillful, well organised and playing at the neat Cheshunt FC ground with a pitch that would be ay home in the Premier (Brentford should visit!).
Tonight it was the village side from Takeley who were the opponents and team that also had some good players but who spent most of the game arguing with the officials, their manager/coach was certainly lucky not to be sent to the stands after abusing the Lino. The Romanians were the opposite, and even when one of their players got a straight red for a high challenge, he just accepted it and walked off. Even with 10 players they added two further goals to their first half strike and a deserved win. It would have been more if their number 9 had remembered he was not Johnny Wilkinson.

A traditional English Summer's day
Monday 3 August 2015, Suffolk CCC V Bedfordshire CCC - Unicorn Minor Counties Championship, Day 2 - Ipswich School
Sunny day, catching up with mates, a cold beer and some good cricket. Maybe only Minor Counties but often there will be a former 1st Class player turning out for a Minor County or a young player loaned out by his County to get some experience. Bedfordshire had Middlebrook, who made a very quick 100. A former Essex and Northants player but who has also turned out for Yorkshire only this season.
