Saturday 25 January 2025, Flackwell Heath 1 Kings Langley 0 - Southern League, Central Division, Wilks Park

Flackwell started the day in the play off positions whilst Kings Langley were mid table, so I expected a home win however this was a very tough game for Flackwell and they only won it with an own goal on 80 minutes.

Flackwell were on top most of the game however the visitors had periods when they got on top and both keepers made a number of good saves.

Ground has an 'old school' feel, hidden away behind houses and one low seated stand with a small bit of cover by the tea hut/behind the dug outs and two bits of cover for those standing behind each goal.. Clubhouse is more modern.

Big thing here is the pitch, not in great condition, looked quite heavy, most noticeable is the sideways slope on the pitch.

Plenty to Crow about!

Saturday 12 March 2016, Royston Town 1 AFC Rushden & Diamonds - Southern League, Division One Central - Garden Walk Stadium

With both teams pushing for a play off place I expected a close game - and I got one, with Rushden the best supported team in the Division I expected a big crowd and I got one but what was not expected (but very welcome) was the almost Summer like conditions that added to the big ground made this a very enjoyable afternoon.

Rushden supporters seemed to outnumber the home fans but from the start it seemed that the Rushden fans were not expecting much a recent dip in form and a number of new arrivals meant many expected a hard game. they got that and Royston deserved their win with a far better work commitment and some excellent displays in what was great all round team performance.

After the game, Rushden fans gave the match officials some stick but you could tell that even the Rushden fans knew they were clutching at short straws as they had in fact been second best all over the park today.

Both clubs could end up facing each other again the play-offs but Rushden need to start winning again or they might not even make the play-offs.

Not much longer as SYCOB

Saturday 5 December 2015, Ware 1 Beaconsfield SYCOB 0 - Southern League  Division 1 Central, Wodson Park

One of those things many football fans have asked - what does SYCOB stand for after Beaconsfield - well i saw them for the first time today and found out - Slough Youth Centre Old Boys - now you know and this will be the last time we have to ask that question as from next season they will be just plain old Beaconsfield Town.

The Youth Club tag is quite appropriate at there team is made up of mainly young players who are involved in a local football academy and i thought they were the better team but in the last minute the home team, Ware managed to get the winner.

Ware have a great ground at Wodson Park, in fact it is 3 grounds with two furher floodlight pitches next door, one inside an athletics track. But a nice set up it may be but they still struggle to get 3 figure crowds, but at least the few who did turn up today went home happy.
