A good news story about ground sharing, and you do not get many of them in Essex. Benfleet shared at Canvey but have now moved back to their original ground, and with plenty of work done over the summer, it is working well. good news is they are attracting large crowds, get the benefit of booze and food sales - and they are even winning! Just need a few more teams, like Hutton, Stanway Pegasus to move home or to a ground of their own.
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

And the lights go on!
Tuesday 5 September 2017, Little Oakley 2 West Essex 3 - Memorial Ground, Essex Senior Cup, 2nd Round
A year ago I visited Little Oakley, when they were members of the Border League, and it is amazing the work they have done at the ground in just 12 months. Tonight was the culmination of that work with the hosting of their first floodlight match.
182 people paid to see this cracking game and the visitors, West Essex just deserved the win in what was a close game.
Little Oakley may struggle on the pitch this season but 'off' the pitch this is a club that is well organised, well run and appreciated by the village. Well worth a visit (or 2).

Not far from the Hook
Tuesday 30 August 2016, Little Oakley 2 Alresford Colne Rangers 1, Essex & Suffolk Border League, Premier Division - Memorial Ground
Not that close to the Hook of Holland but close to Harwich where you take the ferry to the Hook, there was even a Hook of Holland FC pennant in the clubhouse! Talking of the clubhouse, how many other clubhouses in the UK are also the village Post Office?
Decent game and decent place to watch football.
