Slingo

Saturday 31 March 2018, Glebe 0 Chatham Town 2 - Foxbury Avenue, Southern Counties East, Premier Division

SLINGO! I did not know what it meant, but it was on the home team shirts! Google tells me it is an on-line bingo company!

Not sure about bingo but the last few weeks choosing a football game has been a lottery with all the snow and rain but today heard the game was on and when we arrived the sun came out!!

A modern ground, cracking clubhouse but the best bit was the pitch, a slight slope but a surface that drains well as you would not even have noticed we have had heavy rain recently.

Both teams can play football but they would rather argue and moan at the ref, the match officials did well to keep the game under control but a number of yellow cards were shown. Chatham won but just think how good the game could have been if both teams could learn to keep their mouths shut!

Relegated - but a cracking ground.

Saturday 22 April 2017, Chatham Town 0 Lewes 0 - Ryman League, Division One South, Sports Ground, Maidstone Road

Chatham are down but they were the better team today as Lewes seemed to have already left for their holiday! But for all their domination they never looked like scoring- maybe the reason they were relegated?

This ground  will be a loss to the Ryman League, 2 cracking side stands - very different in style, a bar, club shop, obviously a club that cares about it's history - hope it is just one season away from the Ryman.

A game of two halves

Saturday 22 November 2014, Dereham Town 1 Chatham Town 1, Ryman League North, Aldiss Park

Corny but certainly was a game of two very differing halves - the home team on top in the first half but with the Kent club the far better team in the second 45.
