Hornchurch started brightly in what was an open game with chances at both ends and eventually the 'Urchins' took the lead but within minutes were down to 10 men as their keeper got a deserved red card.
But even down to 10 Canvey struggled to get on top and the East London club continued to have chance, Canvey attempted to make the extra man count and eventually got a penalty - now Horchurch had no keeper on the bench so the stand in keeper had been an outfield player. No problem as the Canvey player could only hit the post!
Last minute and Hornchurch break, and this time a Canvey player gets the red card, and Hornchurch do not miss from the spot- so 2-0 in what was a very entertaining game.
The ground may be a pitch within an athletics track, but it is one of the better joint athletics/football stadia but the pitch could do with some work on it.
