Fireworks off the pitch but needed on it!

Monday 16 February 2015, FC St Pauli 0 SpVgg Greuther Furth 1, Bundesliga 2 - Millerntor

A 'must visit' for all football fans, not for great stadium design but for one of the best atmospheres in football, bottom of the German Second Division, freezing cold night, game on the TV but still a full house.

Left wing support, anti nazi and friends to refugees - what is there not to like about this great German club?

Best bit? Just before kick off the firework display , not from the pitch but from the roof of the 'bunker' - the 1940's concrete monstrosity built as an air defence tower on the orders of Hitler at the start of World War II.

But all this good feeling off the pitch does not seem to inspire the players ans they stay at the bottom of the table. But even if they go down it will still be the ground to visit, and I saw a number of other Brits at the game. - Get a chance - go, you will wonder why you did not visit
earlier.
