Big birthday

Great start to the FA Cup
Saturday 16 August, Takeley 2 London Tigers 2, FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round - Station Road
With the season only a week old we are already into the first games of the FA Cup/ I started this years competition with a drive into Essex and a visit to Takeley (close to Stansted Airport). I found a great little ground which has been improved beyond recognition over the last two years.
Takeley just need to get it together on the pitch and they will soon be leaving the Essex Senior League maybe upwards to the Ryman League.
But in this cup they were lucky to get a replay as the London Tigers had played the better football but a last minute equaliser will see a replay needed next week to separate the teams.
What we did see on top of some classy football were 3 outstanding goals with the second goal for the Tigers being the pick of the bunch.
Almost forgot, a great cup of tea and a tasty burger but please turn the PA down!

More negatives than positives
Tuesday 12 August 2014, Crawley Town 1 Ipswich Town 0 (aet) Laegue Cup Round 1 - Broadfield Stadium
Another early cup exit and yet again the many fans who have attended feel let down.
Positives - not many!
Matt Clarke - great debut
Bishop and McQueen - good cameo displays as coming on late subs
That is about it!
Negatives:
Wordworth - very poor
Henshall - played for Man City?????
Nouble - - ball- barn door!
Marriot - did not get much support from midfield but maybe not as close to the 1st team as we thought

Saturday 9 August 2014, Ipswich Town 2 Fulham 1, Championship - Portman Road
What a great idea - a free sticker album and even better rather than talking about how we could get all the stickers at the end of the game, we were instead talking about a great Town display and 3 points to start the season off.

Top non league ground
Tuesday 5 August 2014, AFC Sudbury 2 Ipswich Town Reserves 4, Pre-season friendly - Wardale Williams Stadium
A nice run out for the reserves but you do wonder about how many trial players now get a game, two more tonight for 45 minutes- neither looking that great, would it be better playing our own youth players?
Sudbury have a great non-league ground with superb social facilities- now need to just get their act together on nthe pitch to return to their position as one of top non league clubs in the area - well worth a visit.

Not a great day!
Saturday 2 August 2014, Leyton Orient 1 Ipswich Town 1, Brisbane Road - Pre-season friendly
Traffic jam on A12/M25, arrived at game late, missed the Ipswich goal, never got a programme and Orient get a last minute penalty - hope next week goes better!
