Wednesday 28 November 2018, Ipswich Town 2 Bristol City 3 - Championship, Portman Road

Sunday best

Sunday 25 November 2018, Canterbury City 0 Chatham Town 5 - Kent Senior Trophy, Second Round,  Salters Lane

This game was a repeat of the league fixture played 8 days earlier but that game was close with Chatham winning 2-1 but today they strolled to an easy victory with Canterbury destroyed by the pace of the Chatham forwards. The home team did not take it well and the second half was full of small skirmishes and numerous arguments with the ref.

Ground wise, Canterbury share at Faversham and the ground has plenty to offer the supporter. The club house is just a set of portakabins, but inside a good bar, warm and TV. On the far touchline is a good long stand with seats, standing and a Press table! plus a quality tea hut which seemed to have its own pet cat!

Plenty of early baths

Saturday 24 November 2018, London Colney 0 Biggleswade United 4 - Spartan South Midlands League, Premier Division, Cotlandswick

Strange game, pretty even for 24 minutes but by the 41st minute the visitors were 4 up! No further goals in the second half, however we did have 3 red cards (and it was not even a dirty game).

First of all a Biggleswade player saw red for an alleged head butt then the home team manager was sent from the dug out and the home team full back decided to get in on the act and he also went for an early bath. However taking that away what we did see in Biggleswade is a team who should move up the table and they will do that by also playing good football.

Still looking for a home win

Friday 23 November 2018, Ipswich Town 1 West Bromwich Albion 2 - Championship, Portman Road

Fans happy, smiles on their faces, football improved, over 22,000 in the crowd however we still have not got our first home win.

Always a pleasuere (this season)

Monday 19 November 2018, Ipswich Town Under 23s 5 Crystal Palace Under 23s 2 - Professional Development League, Div 2 South, Playford Road Training Ground.

This season the Reserves have never failed to deliver- good football, excitement and goals - today was no different and as we were playing the team that were in second place in the table, we now go 5 points clear!

Lisbie inspired Cray too good for the 'ites'

Saturday 17 November 2018, Sheppey United 1 Cray Valley PM 3 - Holm Park, Southern Counties East, Premier League

When a club is wound up, ceases to play, is disbanded it is very sad, even more so if they lose their ground - but supporters often fight on and Sheppey is a good example of why. Scrapped, re-formed, struggled, no home ground, ground shares- Sheppey have seen it all but the 'Ites' are now back on the Island, playing well and are one of the best step 5 supported teams in the country.

They are not resting on their laurels, they continue to improve the ground, there is plenty more room to increase the capacity and the supporters keep rolling in. the only difficult they will face is getting out of the league, football wise. Today again indicated that this may not be their season with Cray Valley PM impressing all over the park, in particular with their fast breaking style and with a front line that included ex Ipswich player, Kevin Lisbie.

Try and visit the island, and Sheppey as a club, it is different and would suggest you choose a sunny day!

Do not make it easy

Tuesday 13 November 2018, Walsham Le Willows 2 Ipswich Town XI 2 ( 4-5 on pens) - Suffolk Premier Cup, 2nd Round, Summer Road

Should have been easier than it was, Walsham played good football and worked hard whilst we over elaborated. But a good night out and a good pay day for the village team.

Wilting tulips

Saturday 10 November 2018, Spalding United 0 Lincoln United 3 - Northern Premier League, Division One East, Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field

Great ground, slightly open but impressive grandstand and good to see a club surviving in a town centre site.

Footballing wise, it was the visitors impressed with the third Lincoln goal, one of the best team goals I have seen this season.

Well run club

Wednesday 7 December 2018, Blackstones 2 Long Buckby 0, United Counties League Division One, Lincoln Road.

Warm evening, nice pitch, warm clubhouse and a friendly welcome - what more would you want?

Football was not bad but both teams tend to struggle when they get close to the goal.
