Tuesday 28 August 2018, CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 2 Barmouth and Dyffryn United - Welsh Alliance, Division One, Maes y Parc
A summer walking trip enable me to catch a second game in North Wales, after visiting Bow Street earlier in the year. Maes is a picturesque ground, as I arrived the tourist steam train passed by above the ground towards the village station and beyond the far goal was the view of Snowdonian mountains.
On the pitch was an easy win for the home team and a game played ion a great spirit with everyone seeming to know each other quite well, if you add a good refreshment bar and a large crowd it made it an almost perfect evening.
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

Ar Tarn
Saturday 25 August 2018, Desborough Town 0 Kempston Rovers 3 - FA Cup, Preliminary Round, Waterworks Field
A great afternoon out, OK the football was poor, too much moaning, a weak ref and a poor pitch but what we did have was a friendly bunch of locals, a great club nickname - 'Ar Tarn' - (Our Town) and a real 'old school' ground with each stand having dollops of charm - loved it!

Claydon cement their first win
Tuesday 21 August 2018, Claydon 4 Haughley United 2 - Suffolk and Ipswich League, Senior Division, Blue Circle Ground
Claydon are back in the Senior Division, and have a nice set up at the Blue Circle Ground - the old cement works ground. A cracking pitch, a tea bar and a home win. Not a bad start to their time back in the top division.

Double Ipswich day
Saturday 18 August 2018, Ipswich Town Under 18s 1 Leeds United Under 18s 3 - Professional Development League, Playford Road Training ground then onto Ipswich Town 1 Aston Villa 1 - Championship, Portman Road
A defeat and a draw, two bad refs - but plenty of positives - in the first game it was young player Dobra who lit up the game, may have been on the losing side but he was outstanding then onto Portman Road. A poor ref, a Villa team too willing to go to floor easy nut a Town side willing to fight for every ball and a deserved draw, even with only 10 men.

Just over the border
Saturday 11 August 2018, Harleston Town 5 Downham Town 1 - Eastern Counties League, Division One (North), Recreation Ground
Not far to go today, just over the border to Norfolk to re-complete the division. Might have been Norfolk but the locals were friendly and I liked the ground, open on two sides but plenty of potential.
On the pitch, Harleston look like they will have a good season, work hard, good team spirit and some class players with the front 3 likely to score plenty of goals.
