Friday 19 June 2015, Hull Kingston Rovers 36 Warrington Wolves 10, Rugby League Super League - KC Lightstream Stadium
My first live Rugby League match and I was impressed not only by the quality of the play but also the stadium and the way the club attempted to welcome younger supporters and new fans to the game.
The Robins were impressive and I will now be following their fortunes over the next few years.
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

Olympic and World stars cycle into Suffolk
Tuesday/Wednesday 16/17 June 2015 - Team presentation and start of Stage 1 of the 2015 Aviva Women's tour
Has there ever been so many Olympic stars in Suffolk at the same time? Cycling keeps coming back to Suffolk and no wonder, the crowds flock out for the men, women, amateurs or the Skyride.
Today was no different with Laura Trott, Lizzie Armistead, and Danni King plus the starts of the future - may already junior World Champions like Lucy Garner.
The Women's Tour can with some justification now be named the best women's road race in the world! Just glad it came to Suffolk
And I got to meet Ned Boulting!!

Season over (but plenty of new grounds visited)
Ipswich had a great season, and it was the first time in years that a visit to Portman Road had become enjoyable but even with Mick bringing a smile back to football here, I still found myself drawn to non-league football and even further afield off to Europe.
Total matches attended: 78
New grounds visited: 30
Games abroad: 4
Plus plenty of non-league grounds visited without seeing a game, plus trips to see Suffolk cricket, athletics at the Commonwealth Games and track cycling.
Best grounds visited? – For ‘old school’ non-league it had to be Tamworth then for something new and different it is over the Thames to Dartford.
Best atmosphere? – no surprise but disappointing that the best atmosphere at a game was not in this country – it was St Pauli and Panathinaikos, best games here included Ipswich – Charlton at the Valley and the home play-off game plus Clapton at Stanway in the Eseex Senior Cup.
But the highlight of the season was the weekend trip to Hamburg, 3 games and over 20 grounds visited in just 60 hours.
Next season, a pre-season trip to Germany and other targets include Manchester City, Clapton and Kings Lynn. Plus more track cycling and my first visit to a Rugby League game.
