Sir Alf Ramsey Stand

Saturday 31st March 2012, Ipswich Town 1 Barnsley 0 - Championship, Portman Road

Another win but made it harder than it should have been but today was special as it marked the 50th anniversary of Ipswich winning Division One

.

Some of that great team were on the pitch before the game and Andy Nelson cut the ribbon when the Churchmans/Greene King/South Stand was re-named the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand.

But the best bit was just before kick off when Carlos Edwards led the current team to the side of the pitch near the Directors Box and led a standing ovation to Nelson, Ray Crawford and the other remaining players from that Championship winning side.

At least the game lasted 90 minutes this time

Tuesday 27th March 2012 - Ipswich Town 1 Middlesbrough 1, Championship - Portman Road

Not a bad second half but Chopra and Martin looked tired but PJ took off Bowyer then Murphy - why? But a good goal by Leadbitter after his penalty miss.

Forget the play-offs!

Saturday 24th March 2012, Watford 2 Ipswich Town 1 - Vicarage Road, Championship

At least we can forget all that rubbish about making the play-offs. A good first half but died in the second, front two far to lightweight.

Why the red card

Wednesday 21st March 2012, Ipswich Town 1 Burnley 0, Championship - Portman Road

Two teams trying to pass the ball, first half boring, second half far better and then in a game with hardly any fouls- the ref sends Grant Leadbitter off! Why?

Some sort of revenge

Saturday 17th March 2012, Ipswich Town 3 Peterborough United 2 - Championship, Portman Road

Some sort of revenge for that awful display at London road earlier in the season but obvious for anyone who attended that both team have no problem getting goals but are very unlikely to keep many clean sheets.

The season is now petering out as we move towards mid table safety but I am sure we have a number of high scoring games still to watch.

No Jimmy?

Saturday 3rd March 2012, Ipswich Town 3 Bristol City 0, Championship - Portman Road

No Jimmy Bullard - a two week forced holiday for him but Chopra just gets a fine - why? Maybe because the club can't or won't play Scotland. So a good Town display is overshadowed by off field antics- yet again.

The game, good display by the team, with JET, Drury , Smith and Leadbitter being the pick of the bunch. A warning though to fans, two hard games to come and Bristol City were the poorest team we have seen in Suffolk this season.
