Whilst spending the weekend in Germany to see Ipswich play Fortuna Dusseldorf and then catch the Duisburg - Porto game I decided to spend my spare time visiting other football grounds in the area. some were very basic but the two highlights were the very first ground visited on the Friday - the home of TuRU 1880 Dusseldorf- Feuerbach Strasse and then on the Sunday when we took the monorail to the Zoo Stadium, home of SV Wuppertal.
Feuerbach Strasse - home of TuRU 1880 Dusseldorf
Feuerbach Strasse second pitch - home of TuRU 1880 Dusseldorf II
BZA Schorlemerstrasse home of SC Dusseldorf - West
Flingern Nord and Sportplatz Flinger Broich 89 - home of Fortuna Dusseldorf's ground Paul Janes Stadium (see here) but also home of two minor grounds/pitches home to Fortuna's junior teams and DJK SC Flingern 08
Welcome to my blog that concentrates on my love of sports grounds, from the new stadia like the Millennium to the quant non league grounds of rural Engalnd. Thank you Arcibald Leitch!

Fortuna, Fortuna, Fortuna!!
Friday 17 July 2015, Fortuna Dusseldorf 4 Ipswich Town 3, Pre-season friendly – Paul Janes Stadium
Still not sure why Fortuna and Ipswich have become linked, because we both lost to Barcelona in the 1979 Cup Winners Cup?
But what ever the reason, it has been rewarding for both clubs and this weekend was great experience for all the Town fans who went to Germany. Plenty of Alt beer, 7,000 crowd, fans match, after match beach party at old steelworks, and then a stadium tour of the main Fortuna ground. We could not have been looked after better. So let us hope it becomes an annual game, but i know many Town fans would like the game to be played in Germany every year!
