A club that will thrive once in their own home

Friday 31 May 2024, New York City 5 San Jose Earthquakes1 - Major Soccer League, Yankee Stadium 

Yankee Stadium, maybe the most well known to UK sports fans, but a disappointment when visiting- especially comparted to Fenway Park. Currently home to New York till their 'soccer only' ground opens in Queens. 

The crowd looked small in such a large arena, but the many Latin American supporters certainly tried to liven the atmosphere up. Good news is, with such a large stadium, seats are cheap- then you will need the saved money as the food certainly is going to cost you a bit.

New York were always the better team, but it was only towards then end of the match that their superiority paid off, as up till the then, their final ball had always been poor. The arrival off the subs bench of Argentinian Maxi Moralez certainly improved the quality of the New York passing.

Fenway Park - if you only ever visit one baseball stadium - choose Fenway

Not sure Americans can teach us much about sport, but when it comes to rebuilding a stadium but keeping it's original feel or how to run a stadium tour- then Fenway Park in Boston, ticks all the boxes. Not to say Americans always get it right as a visit to the Yankee Stadium will leave you less impressed.
